Light Up Melrose More!

The Melrose Arts District is looking to raise funds toward lighting another block of Melrose Ave with festive across-the-street string lights. The Business Improvement District (BID), in collaboration with a collection of restaurants, businesses and neighbors, was able to raise enough money to install zig zag festival lights from Vista St. to Gardner St., bringing a touch of class, warmth, and safety to the block.
 
Next, we would like to continue east, making the block from N. Vista St. to N. Martel Ave. more welcoming and inviting to visitors and neighbors alike. Ultimately, our end goal is to see ALL of the Melrose Arts District tastefully lit from Fairfax to Highland! We’d like to continue adding lights east and west as funding continues from residents, neighbors, business owners, property owners and fans of this historic stretch.
 
The total cost to light one block is $5000. Whatever we're able to raise in donations, the BID will match to get to the total. That covers the supplies, the permits, the installation, the maintenance over the years and removal down the road. We received several quotes from professional lighting companies and this was the most competitive.
