Light the way for Jay

Donation protected
Every day we seek to live, challenge ourself, dream, power through, and among many other life motives we just flow from one day to the next. Although life can change quickly, drastically, in an instance...for Jay this story became reality.

Overnight he went from being an independent and adventurous person to being given the label as a single stroke patient taking place in mid-December 2016. Following the initial onset of what follows after a stroke from a magnitude of testing, surgeries, and medications to mental and physical exhaustion Jay starting rebounding through therapy at Nebraska Medicine and then moving to Madonna Rehabilitation facility. Taking life my the horns and focusing on regaining strength in his left arm and leg movement - Jay was making strides.

As seasons set and changed May 2017 hit the calendar and Jay had his second stroke, and thankfully is still here today. A set back with limiting function in his legs. Over the past few months Jay has continued pushing himself to the core at therapy, was released from the hospital to his home where he must receive round the clock care by a nurse or his daughters, and continues to believe in the strength he is given through all who assist, guide, and dedicate their love on this new journey he faces.

Through it all Jay has excelled at therapy, continued and devoured the love of his friendships, allowed the strength and nuturing from his family, but most importantly he has seen the values, the compassion, the life lessons he has taught his three daughters, Jessica, Amanda, and Dana through the care received by them.

Side story: Like all hospital rooms there's a white board where nurses write vitals, medications, names, etc...well, Jay's board had this written on it (thanks to his daughter, Amanda): Strength | A river cuts through rock, not because of its power. But because of its persistance.
