Needing a little helping hand for myself and children to move on from DV.
After navigating a stressful separation this year, due to ongoing DV, finances have been a big stretch. Moving house, setting up a new home, new school, uniforms and fees for the children as well as associated costs due to the the DV (ongoing psychologist, counselling and case worker appointments for myself and kids, moving and professionally cleaning and paying out of other items he demanded) ....and now my car has almost died and I can't afford the $6000+ repairs I've been quoted.
It's almost been a full time job dealing with the fallout of the separation and ongoing abuse and harassment, all the while caring for my two kids full time. Not to mention the emotional toll from the stress of being accused and investigated by the CPIU, DOCS, police and now having to defend myself against a cross DVO application made against me. The ongoing emotional and physical exhaustion impacts all aspects of my life.
Over the past 8 months since separation, the continual DV has affected my and my children's well being, and my ability to study, work and hence save, has been severely compromised.
So, I'm left with a car that I can't sell privately as is, it's not roadworthy without the repairs and rego has now expired...so I'm in quite a pickle...
And to add to the stress, I recently reached a breaking point and have had a breakdown. Ongoing harassment takes it toll and even the strongest of us have their limits. I've just endured a week in a psychiatric unit to recover from the trauma of the ongoing DV and the deep impact it had had on me.
I'm now in recovery, but the wounds will remain as scars and will affect me for a long time. I have a long way to go to endure the ongoing difficulties.
My life and my children's lives have been deeply affected. I now have a lawyer and Legal Aid but still have some fees for the service as well, and so thankful for the kick ass lawyer to help navigate through this mess for me. I however, still have a long way to go to get to the end.
Any little bit would be truly wonderful, so I can move forward with my life after DV.
There must be a light at the end of the tunnel....
