Lifting Up With Hands of Hope

A few years ago my grandmother was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Polycythemia Vera. It's a slow growing cancer in which your bone marrow makes too many red blood cells.  Shortly after my wedding in July 2017, my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer and has been taking chemo and radiation treatments.  The radiation burned his esophagus which then led to a feeding tube.   The last few months have been extremely stressful for the both of them.  

Yesterday, they each had appointments with their oncologist for updates on their cancer.  My grandmother received good news and renewed hope that her cancer is improving.  But the hope was shattered shortly after with the news that her husband's cancer has spread throughout his body and into his brain.  He is terminal and his prognosis is 2 weeks to 3 months.  

With everything going on my grandmother has been strong for the both of them.  Even through the heartbreak and pain, my grandmother has gone to work every single day, sometimes working 40+ hours per week. She can't afford not to work due to health insurance and the insurmountable medical bills that have been accruing rapidly.

I am asking for each of us to offer them a little assistance as they need it now more than ever. She's not someone who would ever ask for help and that is why I am asking.  My hope is that we can offer her enough financial assistance that she would be able to spend these last few moments peacefully by the side of her husband of almost 40 years.
