My mentee Marc was born with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB).
RDEB is a rare and non-contagious skin disorder that causes recurring and painful wounds and blisters on his body. They mostly occur as open sores on his legs, arms, and back. So severe is his RDEB that he is has disfigurement, is unable to walk, has little use of his arms, and other serious medical problems.
At birth, because of the severity of his RDEB, Marc's mother was told he wouldn’t live past 4-years-old.
Today, he is 31-years-old!
Marc's father passed away before he was born and his mother, who is nearing 70 years of age, no longer has the strength to lift him out of bed. That combined with a broken wheelchair has resulted in Marc not being able to leave his bedroom for months.
He is such a humble person that when I talked to him yesterday on Skype, he didn’t want to mention he was stuck in his bed. Instead, he wanted to make sure I was okay. If I hadn't pried as to why he was laying in a similar position to the last time we talked, I would never have known Marc and his mother needed serious help.
That’s why I’ve created this campaign. I’m asking for your help to raise enough money so that we can purchase:
a) An Electronic Wheelchair.

With these two items, Marc will be able to leave his bedroom.
When I asked Marc what he wanted to do when he gets out of his home, he said simply "to go to church with my mom."
UPDATE: (I attempted to withdraw the funds for the purchases and was asked by Go Fund Me to include the following information, first):

3) Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: I have been Marc's mentor for the past several years.
4) How the funds will be used (be specific as possible)
If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf: The funds will be withdrawn by me and then used to specifically purchase the items listed above. If there are any additional funds, they will be provided to Marc's mother to help finance the care of Marc.
