Life-saving transfusion for Agnes B

Donation protected
Agnes Bako was born and raised in Northern Uganda. She comes from a family of six siblings. Her parents were both killed in 2002 during the Northern Ugandan War. As a young child, Agnes wanted to become a nurse and managed to get into nursing school, hoping to achieve her dream. During her time in school, she met a doctor, to whom she eventually got married and had two children with. Unfortunately, her husband, the doctor, had AIDS and Agnes was not aware of it. She eventually contracted HIV and AIDS during her marriage.

A few years later, her husband fell ill. That was when she found out that she had HIV and AIDS. He eventually died.

Currently, Agnes is diagnosed with the HIV virus and AIDS. Luckily her two children are not infected but Agnes is very sick.

Agnes has been getting treatment from the Ugandan government. However, due to the corruption and mismanagement of public health, Agnes is no longer receiving the treatment that she needs. As a result, she has been sick for the last 6 months and has been admitted to the hospital 3 times. The treatments that she had been receiving has not been helping her because her white blood cell count has been decreasing rapidly. Fortunately, Agnes has a chance to have a life-saving blood transfused in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Agnes needs a transfusion by the first week of November 2017, in South Africa.

Agnes requires $15,000 for her treatment in South Africa, which will cover medical treatment, transportation for her and her younger brother Tolbert, hospital bills and daily expenses for three weeks.

Tolbert Oringi (Agnes Bako's younger brother in NYC) and Sen-Pei Hsia (friend of Tolbert's) has been in charge of the Gofundme account. Tolbert has asked Sen-Pei if she could help fundraise for his sister's transfusion.

Tolbert is from Uganda and currently lives in NYC, NY. Sen-Pei is from NYC, NY.

Agnes' blood transfusion in South Africa is going to cost $6,000. $5,000 will be used for Agnes' and her brother, Tolbert's transportation and accommodation from Uganda to South Africa for 2-3 weeks. Local transportation and food (while in South Africa) for 2-3 weeks will be $2,000. The rest of the $2,000 is miscellaneous.

By travelling to Uganda, Tolbert will use the money to bring his sister to a hospital in South Africa and stay there for 2-3 weeks.

If there is anyone with connections in South Africa that is willing to help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated (such as housing, meals, transportation and etc).

This situation is extremely urgent. This fundraiser is Agnes' only hope to live. She needs the funds within two weeks in order to receive the transfusion in accordance with the doctor's recommendation.

Your donation, no matter how small, will make an incredible difference to Agnes' life and the lives and future of her children.
