Lionel James Life Swap Guyana

Donation protected
Lionel is a Mukushi Amerindian hunter from the Amazon jungles of Guyana, South America.  He recently became known after taking part in a BBC show, Life Swap, where he switched places with an office worker from London. The first time he had traveled in a big plane, the first sight of a two storey plus building, the first train - pretty much the first of everything!

This show has generated lots of interest from people who are keen to help Lionel.

Lionel has a wife and 7 children.  One daughter is about to go to University to study nursing, an opportunity that is exceedingly rare in his village.  Lionel wants to support her and the rest of the family as he has always done, but in the modern World that's more to do with money than it is with his ability to go hunting and put food on the table.

He also has his other younger children to continue to support through primary school and secondary school.  There is no secondary education in Lionels village, so he supports them whilst boarding at another nearby Amerindian village during the week to allow them to continue their education.

Some of his ideas to raise actual cash, built on his skills and knowledge of the jungle include:
-Travelling long distances on the river to fish and bring back to sell
- Making craft, such as traditional bows and arrows to sell
- Raising animals, such a Paca and peccary, which are indigenous to the area, which make up a main portion of the meat diet

We are  aiming at this point to raise GBP 5000 to help support Lionel in achieving these plans.
