Life, now Cancer

In June of 2018, Deneen Gibson had what she thought was just a small cough, but when she went in for a quick check-up, she was told that she had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  She was immediately admitted into the hospital, missing her niece’s high school graduation, the little girl who Deneen raised after her sister passed away.

Deneen’s cancer is aggressive, and over the last three months Deneen has been treated with heavy-duty chemotherapy.  Despite spending five days in the hospital each time she has a treatment and a few days at home, Deneen still comes to work with her positive smile and attitude, determined to stretch out the hours of sick leave and vacation that she has.  Even with this, because of six chemo-therapy treatments, Deneen has used up all of her leave.

Now she has been told that she needs a bone marrow transplant, and she faces another three to six month absence for the procedure and recovery.  Deneen faces losing what she has and having to move out of her apartment.

Deneen is and always has been a hard-working, responsible and dedicated person.  She always goes the extra mile for everyone, and she does it with a smile.  She has brought joy into our lives, and now it is time for us to help her and show her how much we care.  Let’s raise money for her so that she can be at home and have a stress-free recovery.  We need to raise at least two month’s rent so that she can do this.  Now is a time to be generous.  Thank you!
