Life long care for dylan

My brother Dylan was the victim of a shooting incident in his own home in Mikana, Wisconsin in mid July of this year. Dylan was shot through the neck and had to be med flighted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota in order to save his life. Unfortunately, the bullet penetrated his spinal cord, which has resulted in a severe and complete spinal cord injury. This means that Dylan is completely paralyzed from the shoulders down and will spend the rest of his life as a paraplegic. Currently, it is unlikely he will regain any movement from the shoulders down, but that is not keeping us from  holding on to hope! Dylan has a tracheostomy (tube surgically placed in his neck) and has also been fitted with a permanent pacemaker to assist in case his heart rate drops too low. Spinal Cord injury patients can have difficulties managing their blood pressure and commonly have low heart rates due to the damage of the cord. Dylan will obviously  need around the clock care when he comes home and likely for the rest of his life. There will be many necessary updates to the house in order to facilitate Dylan during the every day. His family, our parents, will provide home care that they have been minimally trained for but will be putting their best foot forward. Dylan will absolutely require  professional nursing care, as well as a long list of medical supplies. This is a life long injury that will have a lasting impact, not only on Dylan but our family, who love him very much. We would greatly appreciate any help you can lend to allocate towards Dylan’s care, including, nursing staff, medical equipment such as a Hoyer lift, an operational wheelchair, as well as a mechanical hospital bed.
