In 2014 we accepted an invitation from the Brad & Julie Hale Family to join them in their efforts to place life jacket lending stations at reservoirs. They lost two sons to drowning at American Falls reservoir in Idaho and we lost our son to drowning at Willard Bay State Park.
Our son, Brigham Bradley, was a sheriff's deputy in corrections with Weber Co. Sheriff's Office, and firefighter with Sunset & Syracuse Fire Departments. On Aug. 23, 2013 he went to Willard Bay to assist a friend in getting a jet ski running in order to sell it. After the jet ski started, then stopped again away from shore, Brig offered to stay with it while others went to get a tow rope. He disappered; his body was recovered the next day. As a safety advocate he wore life jackets consistently for recreational activities ....... but not on that day.
We are grateful to the Weber County Search & Rescue team who assisted in the placement of the loaner stations at WBSP in 2014. They were the main players among four agencies in the search for & recovery of Brigham's body.
**Our current fundraiser is to re-stock the life jacket loaner stations on both the south and the north marinas at Willard Bay for Memorial Day Weekend, 2018.**
Each life jacket costs $12-15 including the screen-printing of the "Wear it Utah" logo. We are asking for many small donations with which we will buy a life jacket or 2, to reach our goal of 60 life jackets for this summer.
The generosity we have felt in the past lifts our spirits and warms our hearts. Thank you for your support.
