A very close friend of ours, Robyn, is currently saving up for life changing weight loss surgery.
Since having her little boy, Finley (just turned 3), she has suffered severe anxiety and depression, which has resulted in her having to take medication every day. Doctors have told her for as long as she's on the medication she simply won't lose weight to a degree that is deemed as "healthy", no matter what diet or exercise she does due to one of the main side effects being rapid weight gain. So all she wants and needs is this surgery, so she can do day to day things such as take her little boy swimming with confidence, run around with him, play football in the park, but the one thing she REALLY wants to do, is to push Finley on his favourite swing at their local park called the 'trailblazer'. Currently when Finley, who has additional needs, wants to go on the swing and they are alone, Robyn has to say no because she isnt able to hold him, run or bend down enough without being in agony! This means Finley will often have a meltdown and then Robyn will end up having a panic attack.
This surgery will have a huge impact not only on her and her little boy, but her mental health.
She is in the process of having this done on the NHS, however, has been told it will take at least another 3 years before she's on the waiting list due to hoops she has to go through beforehand.
Robyn decided she would save the money up and get the surgery done privately, one because of the wait time, but also, if she can raise the money then she wouldn't be putting that strain on our NHS and allows a spot for someone who isn't able to save in any way.
So please, even if its just £1 or a share, we'd be forever grateful.
