A New Life For My Mom

For Maura, my Mom, a friend and loved one to many.
My Mom has had Asthma her entire life, and in recent years it has gotten very bad. She got breast cancer about 3 years ago, and after a long and tasking battle managed to beat it. Unfortunately, she wasn’t out of the woods as complications from her radiation/chemo treatments took effect and left her in an increasingly bad state. This soon coupled with her Asthma (which never went away) and things have gotten pretty rough.
She is in the hospital frequently now when she has what are called exacerbations, which she compares to breathing through a straw. For her it is a daily struggle.
I am asking for donations for a treatment called “Bronchial Thermoplasty”. Unfortunately this is no regular visit to the Docs office and will cost a pretty penny, to the tune of $40,000. Along with this cost she is also incurring bills from her hospital stays, and is not able to work enough to afford them on her own.
There currently is no cure for Asthma and we have done all we can within our means to make things easier on my Mom as she deals with this. After dozens of coverage denials (and counting) from various insurers we have decided to set up this fundraiser.
I can say that finding this treatment and getting my Mom approved has served as a great ray of hope. This treatment has only been around for a few years, so for the vast majority of my Moms life nothing like this has been available. Her life right now is very limited but with this treatment she will be able to do things that she has never been able to do before, beyond just breathing normally. It will open up a world of experience for her.
