Life Changing Endometriosis Excision Surgery

Donation protected

My name is Nisha and I need surgery for severe endometriosis - but the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in 3 scheduled surgeries being cancelled, with no new date in sight.

Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease that causes extreme pain, destroys organs and robs women of their quality of life. In my case, the disease has damaged my left ovary, my bowel and my diaphragm, and I need extensive surgery to remove the disease and damaged organs.

The pandemic has caused massive delays to endometriosis treatment - only a tiny number of surgeries are being performed, and most of these are cases coming via A&E. Waiting lists are extensive and we are facing the very real possibility of a second wave preventing surgery happening this year.

I'm a single mother of a vibrant 11 year old daughter who needs her mum to be fit and healthy. I am longing to live a life without the crippling pain of this disease - and for both our sakes, I want to avoid the frightening possibility of going in as an emergency.

And so I have taken the decision to book a private operation with a wonderful team in London that are specialist in this type of severe disease. The date is 29th August. And I am reaching out for help, so that I can get the treatment I desperately need.

I'm going to have to be away from my daughter for several weeks as I self-isolate for 2 weeks before surgery, as well as a week post operatively. Then I have a 2 month recovery period until I can return to work.

People who know me would say I'm a very private person, but someone who gives so much to the community. It’s a massive leap of faith for me to be asking my community to support me at this vulnerable time. I know this is a hard time financially for so many people – if you’re not able to make a donation now but would like to support in another way, I’d love it if you could share this on your social media.

I'm a women's health coach and an endometriosis expert - I support women to get the diagnosis and treatment they need and I teach them how to best manage their symptoms with diet and holistic therapies. I teach menstrual cycle awareness, run workshops on perimenopause and I'm excited to offer beautiful celebration days for girls approaching menarche. I am longing to go back to work and continue supporting women to have a positive and healthy experience of the menstrual cycle.
