LIFE AND DEATH- Help Save Gizzy!!

Tax deductible

A NARPS family member is wrestling with life and death.... and we need to what we can to turn the tables!! Please help!

When we talk about our NARPS family... it’s not just an empty saying we throw around.  Our NARPS volunteers, fosters, adopters, etc are our NARPS FAMILY!! That also goes for the amazing animals which come through our program.

Some of you may know of Gizmo, aka “Gizzy”, formerly known as “Apollo”.  Gizzy is quite possibly the most adorable, most precious soul you could ever meet.  In his short 7mo of life, this boy has not had it easy.  At just a few months old, Gizmo suffered a skull crushing dog bite which left his face adorably asymmetrical at spots.  NARPS spent $1900 on Gizzy’s vet care for his devastating head injury, and he got the best of care at his foster home.  He was fostered by one of our dearest in our NARPS family... a foster and volunteer of ours who always goes way above and beyond.  (Jenn Reasinger and Hubby)  To say they are an intricate and important part of NARPS would be an understatement.  The Reasinger’s were not match for Gizzy’s charm and silly face.. they fell head over heels and Gizzy became a permanent ADOPTED resident!

Not long after they made Gizmo’s adoption a reality, tragedy struck and Giz is fighting his life like never before.  Just a few days ago, the Reasinger’s noticed Gizzy suddenly struggling to breathe.  They rushed him to Quakertown Vet and then ended up at Valley Central Emergency Vet.  Gizmo was diagnosed with having spontaneous pneumothorax.  He had blister like lung bullae on the outside of his lungs and as they would burst, they would fill his chest cavity with air, thusly compressing his lungs almost to the point of collapse, causing him to struggle and almost suffocate!!  He was hospitalized and chest tubes were put in.  In a matter of just a few days, his vet bills were over $4,000 and still no major progress was made.  They were quoted an additional $4000 to do a CT scan and continue hospitalization for a few more days.  Feeling defeated and lost, options were being explored and euthanasia was sadly being considered.  We love our NARPS family and we love our NARPS animals.  A more educated decision and prognosis can be made for Gizzy if a CT scan can be done.  At this point, NARPS is stepping in and taking over Gizzy’s veterinarian care and bills.  We owe it to this little fighter and it’s the least we can do for his family that loves him so unbelievably much!! We are hoping and praying for the best, but this is a situation with no guarantees.  NARPS had Gizmo transferred to our friends and valued vet staff at VSEC Philly (Dr. Ben-Amotz... who saved Josephine, Bogard, Brownie, William, etc for us!).  Gizzy will undergo anesthesia tomorrow morning and have a CT scan done, along with X-rays.  Positive thoughts and prayers are appreciated.... but reality is that this is a big expense for us!! We had to put a $2750 deposit down upfront and the estimate is expected to be upwards of $3600! That likely won’t be the end of the expenses either!! If we can save Gizmo, he very likely may need a very costly lung surgery!!

We beg, plead, and implore you to make a donation towards this truly amazing puppy.  To meet him is to love him. You would understand why we felt so moved to extend our help.  Please consider making a TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION towards Gizmo’s vet care.  He is fighting for his life and we are doing all we can to give him the best chance possible.... please join us in this fight to save him.  Every dollar helps!! It all adds up!! Please SHARE our fundraiser, share his story... spread the word!! We need all the help we can get!! Let’s show Gizzy and his NARPS FAMILY what it means to be FAMILY!!  We can do this!!!
