Lake Independence Water Quality Improvement Fund
Tax deductible
LICA is working with key partners on several water quality initiatives starting this year that are aimed at improving water quality in Lake Independence. Water quality has been at the top of homeowner and lake enthusiast concerns for many years, and these projects are targeted directly at improving water quality.
In conjunction with the Pioneer-Sarah Creek Watershed Management Commission, Three Rivers Park District, the City of Independence, and the City of Medina, LICA is starting a multi-year initiative to improve water quality through two projects: one that targets curly leaf pondweed, which is the most significant source of internal phosphorus loading in Lake Independence, and a second project to help address the amount of time it takes for the water level in Lake Independence to recover after large rain events.
These projects are multi-year initiatives with high up-front costs that gradually decrease over time as the situation improves. In addition to operational support, LICA's partners are also bearing a large amount of the project costs, so that Lake Independence homeowners only need to fund roughly 25% of the project costs.
LICA is a volunteer organization, funded by donations from you and can't make these projects happen without your support!
