Funds for Library in Nepal

Hi Everyone,
I am raising funds for a project this year that is very close to my heart and I am looking forward to some support and inspiration from you to make this happen!
I am climbing to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal in October – 8 days up, 4 days down. I’ll be going up almost 2/3 of mount Everest – about 18,000 feet!
Prior to the start of my climb however, I have partnered with an organization called "Library in a Week", which is founded by a friend and a pure source of inspiration, Sultan Akif. Together, we will be building a library in Kathmandu for 4 days at a local school. Library in a Week's mission is to build 100 libraries across the planet to light up lives with the brilliance of knowledge and education, and the library I am raising funds to build in Kathmandu is for a kindergarten focused school and library #21!
I first visited Nepal in the 1990's with my family as a kid and the place had etched some really fond memories. My next visit as an adult to Nepal was back in 2014, where I had the opportunity to experience the countryside and its pristine rivers and majestic mountains as a result of a 10 day hike through the mountains in the Annapurna region. I fell in love with the simplicity of the people, contrasted with the grandiose and magnificence of the mountains, and their interplay. It was a very cathartic and healing journey and I made a promise to myself that I would return to Nepal. When I met Sultan in Toronto recently, I told him about my dreams of Nepal. Our visions and intentions aligned and the Everest climb and the library project combined to turn into a possibility!
A bit about the library build project - we will be revamping an old, run-down room and transforming it into a second library for the kids at the Nava Adarsha school in Kathmandu. My initial stretch goal was to raise $5000, out of which I am committed for $2500 CAD . The funds will ensure the building and painting materials, furniture, books and supplies are arranged. 100% of the donation amount will be used towards the build and the supplies. I will be on site in early October and will be building the library with the locals (super excited)! I invite you to keep checking this page as I will be posting updates on our progress so that you get to be involved and can see firsthand the impact your contributions are directly making in the betterment of the lives of these kids.
