Elle avait à peine 17 ans lorsqu'elle a rencontré Saeed Al Sharahni en 2001. Il lui avait fait croire qu’il était étudiant à Concordia, mais il était en fait illégalement au Québec. À prime abord, Saeed était gentil, avenant et semblait ouvert à la mentalité canadienne. Nathalie s’est laissée séduire par ce jeune homme charmant et a donné naissance à Samir en 2002. Saeed a été expulsé du Canada la même année à cause de son statut illégal.
Pendant deux ans, Saeed fait miroiter à Nathalie les possibilités d’une vie de famille avec Samir en Arabie saoudite. Nathalie lui rend visite deux fois et revient à chaque fois, ce qui fait croire à Nathalie qu’elle pourra toujours conserver sa liberté de mouvement avec son fils malgré les lois saoudiennes. C’est donc en mars 2005 que Nathalie part s’installer avec Samir en Arabie saoudite.
Mais dès son arrivée, les promesses d'une vie de famille heureuse se sont transformées en cauchemar! Saeed, après avoir sévèrement battu Nathalie, les a séquestrés tous les deux, elle et Samir, les enfermant à clé dans l’appartement en exigeant de Nathalie qu’elle trouve un moyen de le sortir d’Arabie Saoudite si elle voulait revenir au Canada.
C’est à peine neuf mois après le départ de Nathalie que sa mère, Johanne Durocher, a sonné l’alerte auprès des autorités. Madame Durocher a pu visiter sa fille à deux reprises, mais depuis 2009, elle n’a plus l’autorisation de se rendre en Arabie Saoudite.
Depuis ce temps la situation ne fait qu’empirer trois enfants se sont ajoutés à la famille, conçus sous la contrainte et Saeed est violent aussi avec Samir. Il y a quelque temps Saeed a failli étrangler Samir pour un rien. Samir a porté pendant plusieurs mois les marques à son cou. Une plainte a été déposée aux autorités saoudiennes.
Malgré de nombreuses démarches, des demandes officielles de rapatriement, Nathalie et ses enfants sont toujours retenus là-bas par un homme qui refuse de travailler, est violent envers elle et les enfants et qui refuse de les laisser partir. Nathalie vit aujourd’hui de dons de charité et de maigres revenus d’un travail à temps partiel. Son mari vit à ses crochets.
Bien qu’elle ait un peu plus de liberté, Nathalie vit prisonnière en ce pays austère. En tant que Canadienne, elle souhaite de tout cœur revenir au pays avec ses enfants canadiens. Chaque don compte et nous rapproche du but; libérer une mère et ses enfants et les ramener au pays afin qu’ils aient l’opportunité de vivre une vie libre et exempte de violence. Le comité de soutien à Nathalie Morin souhaite lever des fonds afin de payer des frais juridiques et professionnels pour son rapatriement avec ses quatre enfants. Merci de votre appui!

Free Nathalie Morin and her four children!
We are asking you to give generously to help us in our efforts to rescue Nathalie Morin and her four children from an abusive man who is protected by the laws of his country, Saudi Arabia.
How did Nathalie end up in this dead-lock situation?
She was only 17 years old when she met Saeed Al Sharahni in 2001. He led her to believe that he was a student at Concordia University, but he was in fact illegally in Quebec. At first glance, Saeed was nice, engaging and seemed open to Canadian mentality. Nathalie fell under this young man’s spell and gave birth to Samir in 2002. Saeed was deported from Canada that year because of his illegal status.
For two years, Saeed painted a glowing picture of the family life she could have with Samir in Saudi Arabia. Nathalie visited him twice and was able to return to Canada each time, and that led her to believe that she could keep her freedom of movement with her son despite Saudi laws. With this in mind, Nathalie moved to Saudi Arabia with Samir in March 2005.
But upon her arrival, the dream of a happy family life turned into a nightmare! Saeed, after severely beating Nathalie, locked her and Samir in his apartment, asking Nathalie to find a way to get out of Saudi Arabia if she wanted to return to Canada.
Only nine months after Nathalie’s departure, her mother, Johanne Durocher, alerted the authorities. Ms. Durocher was able to visit her daughter twice, but since 2009, she has not been authorized to go to Saudi Arabia.
Since then, the situation only got worse. Three other children, conceived under coercion, were born. Saeed is not only violent with Nathalie, he also is with Samir. Some time ago, Saeed nearly strangled Samir for no reason, leaving marks on his neck for several months. A complaint was filed with Saudi authorities.
Despite numerous efforts undertaken and formal requests for repatriation, Nathalie and her children are kept from leaving Saudi Arabia by a man who refuses to work and who is violent towards them. Nathalie has to rely on charity and the meagre income she makes by working part-time to put food on the table. Saeed is living off her.
Although she now has a bit more freedom, Nathalie is trapped in this austere country. As a Canadian, she is desperate to return to Canada with her Canadian children. Each donation counts and brings us closer to our goal: to free a mother and her children and bring them to Canada so that they can live in freedom and safe from violence. Nathalie Morin’s support committee seeks to raise funds to pay for legal and professional help in order to assist with Nathalie and her four children’s repatriation. Thank you for your support!
