Over 100 6ft Bee Sculptures, designed by artist, forming a trail throughout the City.
An opportunity has come about where community groups could have one for £4000 + VAT (+ roughly £1500 for design / painting / fixing down etc.
I think it would work well to have 4 / 5 Main sponsors paying £500 each, 8 / 10 sponsors paying £250, then other people / groups paying £50 to raise what is needed and possibly having a contingency fund....
We could either have a plaque / or have honeycomb shapes on the base (as the photo attached with sponsors names painted within the sculpture).
Then we could have lots of smaller honeycomb shapes for individuals who either wanted to pay £50 in support of the community or in memory of a loved one.
It would be a blank canvas and it could be painted however we wanted – I was thinking the Rainbow Bee – known as Queen Bee (but we could get a local artists within our community to come up with a design and then who ever has the design chosen would be commissioned to paint it).
If you know of a local LGBTQ+ Artist - please pass on their details so that we have full Community Engagement.
With this – as it’s a Community Bee we would retain it and we could have it placed either on Canal Street or in Sackville Gardens for the whole community to appreciate it.
If you would like more details please get in touch with me.
This as all happened very quickly - and we can look at all options - but i think this would be great for Manchester's Gay Village and our LGBTQ+ Community
Your thoughts please…. If you think it's got legs (or wings)
Please like and share.
I am BUZZING with Excitementabout this.
