The LGBTQ Refugees In Kenya Self Aid Society
LGBT Refugees in Kenya are facing hard situations due to closed doors of employment, poor housing facilities, shortages of food and of sanitary necessities, discrimination, and the long awaiting process of resettlement to safer countries.
They cannot work for pay, and so must rely on donations to survive. Many of them in the Nairobi area are experiencing homelessness as a result of homophobia, superstition, and ignorance.
This has resulted in some attempting- and others committing - suicide. Many are also being challenged in other ways, having to deal with depression and anxiety brought on by such difficult situations on a day to day basis.
A small group of 4 people have joined hands on starting up a restaurant project with the aim of employment, to be used for the paying of rent and utilities, as well as buying food and toiletries. These immediate goals will improve our poor living standards.
We kindly request your help and support in trying to survive during these difficult times.
