On Wednesday, October 8th 2014, my 7 year old cousin, Alexa Elizabeth Temple, was diagnosed with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This devastating news is overwhelming to say the least.
Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (also called ALL or acute lymphocytic leukemia) is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow produces too many immature lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell).
Alexa has always been unique! Her bravery has shined through since a very young age. She was never afraid to swim in the pool, even the deep end! Alexa has always been very passionate about animals, and never showed any fear of snakes. She owns two snakes, Sun and Essey. She also has a bearded dragon, a blue tongued skink, fishes, and of course, a turtle. Knowing I am petrified of snakes, Alexa always loved to chase me around with her snakes. She was 5 years old at the time. Alexa loves going to Jungle Bob’s in Centereach to visit all the different reptiles. Alexa loves horses and pigs. When she grows up she wants to work with animals. Even as a baby, Alexa said she wanted to be a dog trainer. She especially loves all the dogs in her life, Jake, Joey, Simba, and Anakin. Alexa also has two guinea pigs, Pipsqueak and Chunk. Alexa loves roller coasters and her favorite color is green.

Alexa is loved and admired by everyone she meets, but she is especially adored by her family. Alexa is a beautiful, funny, kind, and brave little girl who is going to beat cancer with her courageousness.
We ask that you send positivity and hope to this baby girl during this difficult journey. Alexa will be receiving chemotherapy treatments regularly to fight the cancer.
