Lexine's Refugee Assistance

I can't change the world but if I can make a difference to one person, one family, I am changing their world.

Last Fall I went to Moria refugee camp in Lesvos, Greece, volunteering at REAL (Refugee Education & Learning) and will be returning this Spring 2019. I went to make a small difference, but in reality it was my world that will be forever different because of what I've seen and heard.

Children orphaned from the war and fleeing their countries on their own, losing their only living siblings along the way, refugees with visible scars and lashes from beatings, toenails missing from being ripped out, a 14 year old Kurdish girl blinded in both eyes  by the Turkish Army, stories of severe abuse in prison after being caught trying to escape their countries, young boys escaping their countries after being forced to kill others as child soldiers, and miserable conditions in the camp leading to suicide attempts by children as young as ten. 

This trip is self funded and I am looking at large expenses for supplies I am bringing, money to help refugees with food, cell phones, bus tickets to get to medical/legal appointments, clothing,  toiletries   If you would like to donate to help fund my assistance to refugees and volunteer expenses, I would greatly appreciate it. If at the end of my time in Greece, there is any money remaining, it will be donated to the relief organizations on the ground in Lesvos and Athens. Thank you so much for any help... Lexine
