Lexi's Surgery

This Labor Day weekend, Lexi Stevens went in for MRI and doctors found a brain tumor, which will sadly leave her permanently deaf in her left ear. We don't know if it's cancerous yet, but we will keep you guys updated.
Lexi will be having surgery next thursday. Her first surgery will be 3-4 hours and the second one to remove the tumor will be 12. The surgery happens in two stages where doctors will go in and remove the inner ear. Because the tumor is pressing on her auditory canal, facial nerve and sensory nerve, Lexi is having numbness in her face, tongue, gums, teeth, basically her whole left side of her face. There is a small chance that she will regain feeling but her doctors cannot say for sure. The surgeon is going to try to preserve the facial nerve as much as possible.
To help accommodate her hearing in the future, they will implant a magnetic disk under her skin behind her ear and then the hearing aid will magnetize to the disk and take any sound that comes to the left side of her head and bring it to the right ear to help her hear her surroundings. It is 4000 dollars and most likely insurance will not cover this cost. Having this hearing aid will support her in school and really help with hearing in general.
Lexi will be in the hospital for two weeks, and we will do our best to keep you guys posted.
