Lexi Loo Needs Surgery

Hi everyone,
My name is Lexi and I'm the adorable dog you see in the picture above! I'm guessed to be a Vizsla mix and I am approximatel 1.5 years old. I've had quite the interesting life. You see, I use to be a street dog until a rescue found me and took me in back in December. I was very very skinny, I'm slowly gaining weight however, it's been a tough process!
After many food experiments, different medications, an ultrasound and now X-rays, we have finally gotten down to the bottom of why it's been so difficult!
I have a diaphragmatic hernia, which means my intestines and possibly a few liver lobs are in my chest...not just poking out, they are all around my heart and constricting my lungs, making my lungs half the size they are suppose to be! I need surgery to pull my intestines back through to my abdomen, a way to close the hole afterwards, and a tube to help my lungs very slowly get back to normal.
Which bring me to my point, mom and dad are awesome and have given me so much that I just want to help them out a bit. My surgery is very expensive, but without it I am unable to breath properly, digest things normally, at great risk for sepsis, and even death if untreated.
If there is anyway you can help me get better every little bit helps! My surgery is scheduled for October 5th so I'll be spending the Canadian Thanksgiving recovering with my mom, dad and brother Oakley! I'll make sure to keep everyone posted on how I'm doing!
