Levy Family Support

It's oft been said of parents of children who were adopted that the children arrived in our families through both the beauty and tragedy of adoption.  As many of us know, that sentiment is lived out on a daily basis.

Meet my friends Amy and Court.   They adopted children from Uganda like my family and as the world of adoption goes, it's a pretty small world!

In 2012 Joyce arrived home from Uganda at 7 years old.  Amy and Court knew some of what she had experienced in her life prior to adoption, but having not lived it with her there were holes.  Joyce is resilient, witty, and hard working.  She is loved by her teachers at school.  She is dedicated to her school work and although learning is very difficult for her due to brain trauma and a lack of early exposure to schooling, she is diligent about homework and receives excellent grades and positive comments about behavior and effort from adults at school.

Being at home for Joyce is different.  Kids who experience very serious abuse and trauma in the early years of their life can develop a disorder called Reactive Attachment Disorder that alters the way the brain functions making personal family connections extremely difficult and frightening and sometimes nearly impossible.

Since coming home, the Levys have worked hard to meet Joyce's needs through therapies and hobbies and endless prayers to our savior. Today, it's no longer safe for Joyce to live in their family full time as her reactive attachment disorder has triggered violence.  With broken hearts, the Levys searched and have found a place for Joyce to go and heal.  A place where she will be loved and challenged to continue to learn what love is and, hopefully, leave reactive attachment disorder behind, in Jesus' name.

The cost of the facility is $25,000 for one year and the Levys are tapped out.  Years of therapy and doctors and even a move, since it was in the best interests of their kids, means that there are no savings for this.

Will you join my family in linking arms with the Levys to relieve the financial burden? Please give.  And share.  And most of all?  PRAY.  May God be glorified even in this, just as He says.

Thank you for your donation of ANY size and THANK YOU for sharing this and praying.  Deb
