Tropical Cyclone Harold has devastated the South Pacific nations during this Easter season, 2020. 

In the Fiji Islands, in the province of Lau - the island of Matuku was severely affected. Matuku Island has 7 villages and we are fundraising to support Levukaidaku village.

The funds from this initial relief appeal will be given directly to the Committee of Levukaidaku for them to use accordingly.
The long-term goal is to rebuild infrastructure (homes, primary school, nurse station, church, community hall) as well as repairing water mains, water tanks, electrical systems, purchase of materials and tools and whatever else is needed to rebuild the community. (We will update when official damage reports are received).

The Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief have flown over Matuku and taken an aerial image that shows part of the village. Due to powerlines being damaged we are delayed in receiving consistent communication with our families in Levukaidaku. At this moment, we are unaware of the real extent of the damage to our village home. 

It appears that there are 7 houses standing, possibly with minimal damage. The rest of the houses (20 or so) appear to be completely flattened or have significant damage with the roofs blown off, windows shattered and severe water damage. From the aerial image, the church, primary school, village hall, cooperative store and nurse station have been severely damaged.

Levukaidaku is in dire need of financial assistance to rebuild. With your help, we can rebuild our beautiful community, our village, our home - Levukaidaku.
