Levi's Hospital Transfer

On the 22/06/2022 at 1:42am weighing a tiny 740grams our beautiful little baby boy decided he wanted to enter the outside world. Born at only 24 weeks he has had some massive battles to get through but has shown us how much fight he has.
At only 5 days old he faced a life threatening infection in his abdomen and we were forced to face the most unbearable thought of losing our boy. Discussions had to be had with his doctors of if we wanted him to continue fighting. We had both always agreed that if he showed fight then we would fight with him. 48 long hours later he showed that fighting was what he wanted to do and he did it fearcly.
At 14 days old following the infection his small intestines were not able to hold steady and perforated. This caused his little belly to fill with gas which was putting pressure on his lungs and because of this the amazing surgical team in Darwin had to put a drain in to release the gas which then released all the pressure.
The Doctors had advised us that he would need surgery to fix the perforation, however they needed him to be more stable and be over 1kg to be strong enough to get through it. The next battle came along when his intestines had a second perforation and waiting was no longer an option. At 19 days old he underwent his first 3 hour long operation where they were able to find the perforations and remove the dead parts of his intestines and give our little Levi a Stoma bag, to give him a chance to heal and gain weight.
Fast forward to now, 4 weeks and 3 days old at 1092grams, beautiful bright eyes and still the most amazing fight our little bear is being transfered out of Darwin. As amazing as the
Royal Darwin Hospital has been it is not big enough, or equipt enough to continue his care and give him the best chance at life. We are still not sure which hospital he is being transfered to as the Doctors are still working on this but it will be happening within the next few days.
We have kept most of this news within our family circle due to the circumstances but we now want everyone to see our beautiful boy.
Many people have asked if there is anything they can do to help and with the journey we are about to take the only thing we need is each other but this means not working. We are setting up this GoFundMe for assistance to be able to soley focus our energy on Levi and try not to worry about how we're going to pay the bills. Anyone that can help us stay together as a family, and be there for Levi would be greatly appreciated. If this is something you are not able to help with please don't feel bad but please continue to keep us in your thoughts.
