Leukemia Fund for CLINT ROBERTS

Donation protected
My dad, Clint Roberts, was diagnosed with Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) in April of 2018. It is a very rare form of Leukemia only occurring in 4 of every million people in the United States each year. That works out to about 1,100 cases each year.  Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) starts in blood-forming cells in the bone marrow and invades the blood.  Cells in nearly any part of the body can become cancer and can spread to other areas of the body.
The only treatment for CMML is to have a bone marrow transplant using a donor's stem cells/marrow .
Luckily, Clint has found a match and his treatment will start on August 23rd!  He will undergo 5 days of intense chemo, wiping out his entire immune system and marrow, before it is replaced with the healthy donor's marrow and stem cells.
Unfortunately, Clint is going to be out of work for at least 6 months and possibly longer depending on recovery and how well his body responds to the transplant. The average cost of allogeneic (donor) bone marrow transplant  is around $800,000!!!
That $800,000 (billed to insurance) doesn't include the out of pocket costs our family will have to pay. Clint is getting his treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. He will be required to stay in the hospital for the first 20-30 days, but after he is released, he is still required to live within 10-15 min of Moffitt for the next 2-3 months. We live further away than that, so we are going to have to pay for him to stay in a long term hotel during that time.  Also my mom and sister and I are going to have to reduce our work hours as my dad is required by Moffitt to have a caregiver with him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we will be taking turns from work to stay with him during that time.
We really need your help to cover the hotel costs, transportation costs back and forth to tampa, and our home expenses because yes, we still have our regular monthly bills on top of this.

Anything you can give, we will appreciate and will use towards funding my dad's stay in Tampa or other medical bills as we have a huge stack already.  We have filed for many grants and other assistance that the social workers gave us, but unfortunately most of the programs are out of funding at this time. Also since my dad's type of cancer is so rare, the help that is available, is few and far between.
This was our last resort, and anything you can do to help us would be a Godsend.

Thank you and much love,

Whitney, Courtney, Marilynn, and Clint.
