"She has meningitis," I was told when I questioned where Leticia was during her time student teaching. After trying various medications and numerous treatments, including insemination, the years only continue to pass. Running out of options, Leticia's entire being has become affected. Seeking what little options were left, Leticia and Brian continue to be excited for what lies ahead. Hopeful, they made an appointment with a fertility specialist to find out more information about In Vitro Fertilization. As they left the appointment, that same hope turned into disappointment. In order to have a family, they would need upwards of $15,000, after health insurance coverages.
The $15,000 includes the cost of retrieval, cryofreezing the sperm and embryos, sending the embryos out for genetic testing, thawing the embryos, needle insertion, hatching, and hormonal injections as well as many other processes.
More importantly, the $15,000 would mean giving Leticia and Brian their hope again. It would mean the opportunity to play an important role in their child's life.
