HELP LETTIE & PANDA GET OUT OF SALT LAKE CITY!

WHO ARE WE?

Lettie & Panda are two indigenous femme babe geniuses who travel through time to heal their communities, near & far. Due to colonization, capitalism & intersecting oppressions, these two are houseless & currently staying with friends. The sooner we can help them raise funds, & set off on their journey to nurture roots elsewhere, the better!

*the rest of this writing will have examples of systemic oppression & the results of surviving multiple traumas, with mentions such as: mental health stuff, abusive dynamics, racism, & houselessness.  if these are triggers for you, as so many of them can be for us, please be gentle with yourself.  you are important, too! feel free to pop in at the end, HOW EVERY DOLLAR, REPOST, WOO & PRAYER MATTERS, for ways to support us on our journey.*

Lettie is a poet, healer, high moon femme with all the feelings. They are a queer brown single mama with chronic depression & anxiety, who also endures severe bouts of PTSD due to the communal, familial, & intimate partner violence they have survived. Lettie is currently unable to make ends meet working as much as they can (childcare access is hard!) in the home healthcare segment of the non-profit industrial complex. They dream of a doula future with babies, chosen-fam, & all the stories that bring joy, knowing that this honors their femme ancestors.

Panda was given the “Biggest Heart, Best Friend” award in kindergarten, & that’s not even the half of it. They are one of the most magical beings in all the femmeiverse! Panda likes to spend their time eating croissants & their vegetables, playing different card games, & playing Minecraft (which is kinda like virtual training for post apocalyptic revolution). They really good at drawing, & are all about the panda femme lifestyle.

WHY HELP US?

Deer Heart Friends & Spirit Kin,
I am here because we (Panda & I) are in dire need of your help! Let me tell you something: Salt Lake City is no place for Panda & I & our indigenous femme babe brilliance. How do I tell you how much I need your help? How to share with you how difficult asking for help is? How can I share with you my heart? I mostly communicate in stories, so here we go:

I’ve worked long & hard to keep myself & Panda alive, & now I feel like our time of hard survival is over! We are moving to a place that can help us bloom in ways that our ancestors foretold & prayed for, a place where we will have more access & resources that can mean the difference between a thriving life & deep scarcity. We have been so blessed to find, grow, & love community in Salt Lake City, & we are excited about this new chapter of life.

In our near future, we hope to settle into our new life in a place with healer roots & gentleness, qtpoc community with families that reflect our worth & magnificence back to us, & opportunities for accessing a thriving community of creativity for us to explore our complex & valuable experiences through performance & writing, to name a few.

This past year is just a small snap shot of my previous 16 years in Salt Lake City, epitomizing our everyday struggle to survive. In January I started my second to last semester of my undergrad (yay!), & then on my way to my first class on the first day, I crossed paths with my abusive ex-person (ugh). The following three weeks this trend continued & increased in ways that re-traumatized me, & I ended up trying to navigate my world in a heightened state of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Through out it all, I tried my best to continue to go to school, access resources to help, but I no longer felt safe or supported on campus. Truthfully, experiencing abuse, and being re-traumatized when I attempt to access help, dealing with few resources, are not limited to my experiences in academia, but have branches that extend to every part of my life, into too many of my relationships, into my most sacred & hopeful places.

Soon after, my healing housing situation (long live the Baberation!) started to fall apart, which felt absolutely devastating, & there was nothing we could do to stop it (though we tried). Through out all the traumas & trials I was living through, the Baberation (made up of kick ass babe geniuses) helped keep me together. Having stable housing has not been a privilege I have had access to, & having this foundation (& basic need) taken from us was more than I could bear. To preserve what I could for Panda & I, I chose to drop out of my semester so I could focus on finding a place for us to live, & to take care of our mental health.

This fundraiser is to support me in building a life that loves me back so in the future I won’t have to sacrifice our dreams for our basic needs and survival.

Since I’ve been diligently building, loving, & femmeifesting community (& a life that loves me back), Panda & I were able to land for a short time in a friends’ home. Having a somewhat stable place to live allowed me to address some of the pressing issues in other parts of our lives—racism at Panda’s school, Panda’s other parent moving out of state, & further estrangement from my blood family due to abusive dynamics. This is the main reason why I am seeking your financial support now, to have resources, money, support, housing, so we can actively address our intergenerational trauma amongst community that can hold our healing.

*HOW EVERY DOLLAR, REPOST, WOO & PRAYER MATTERS*

We are femmeifesting $6,696 for the following:

$4,000  Deposite, rent & utilities for 4 months
$1,200   Food & medicine for 4 months
$800      Moving expenses (one-way for moving truck & gas)
$200      One-way ticket for moving buddy to get back to SLC
$496      Fundraising Fees
Additional funds raised will be used for our NEW LIFE!

Please, be part of our healing journey out of Salt Lake City, part of a life that loves us back, & donate any amount to our fundraiser &/or share the love!  We are also accepting prayers, words/shares of encouragement, & all kinds of woo!  We believe in these powerful tools of resistance, in the ways they have kept us alive all these generations.  Every show of support means so much to us.

With all our hearts,
Lettie & Panda
