Serious Undiagnosed Heart Condition

Let's Cure Carly By Juliana DePamphilis My best friend Carly is 21 years of age and was admitted into the hospital mid July of 2017 for 3 weeks with an undiagnosed illness that has turned her life upside down. Strange symptoms started around December of 2016. Carly went to several Dr. appointments with no definitive answers. January of 2017 she started her new job as a medical assistant. After starting this job she would complain about having zero energy & could barely make it through her day. This was all concerning for us because anyone that knew Carly knows how outgoing, motivated, driven, and energetic she typically is. From January-July she started experiencing a variety of symptoms that started from head to toe. She was admitted into the hospital in July and had no choice but to be put on disability. After having many MRI’s, scans and blood tests for 3 weeks, she then lost feeling in her lower legs & left arm. They found several abnormalities through the testing, but no definitive answers for a diagnosis. Blood work was positive for an auto immune disease, but to this day, they don't know what auto immune disease it is. Carly regained use of her legs & arm during her hospital stay with no explanation as well. She must see different specialists and doctors weekly. Symptoms are continuing and she has to be admitted at times for IVs due to her inability to function and dehydration. This undiagnosed issue has now affected her heart extremely. Her resting heart rate in bed is now between 100-150 and when she walks, talks or eats, her heart rate increases even higher. She was put on beta blockers to help her heart rate, but even with that she constantly has chest pain, PVC’s and has had SVT episodes that put her back into the hospital. She will be getting heart surgery on November 29, 2017. This procedure has an 80% success rate but will only, if successful, solve one part of the heart issue. More heart procedures may be needed as well. Everything is at risk at this point in time. The cardiologist, just recently, did diagnose her with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) which would explain the high heart rate but they are still unsure of what underlying cause is causing her body to fail her. Carly will continue to need more testing to help diagnose her condition and auto immune disease. After she recovers from her heart surgery she will go to a research hospital to try to get a diagnosis. Due to the fact she has been on disability since July of 2017 she was recently notified from her employer that they have decided to terminate her. The reason why I have decided to set up this donation fund for her is because this journey is not coming to an end anytime soon and the medical bills are mounting...and quickly. I am hoping to raise enough money that Carly will be able to pay her medical bills and to be able to get all the procedures necessary without delay. Any amount will help and we are extremely grateful. Carly tries to live a normal life as much as she can due to her circumstances but is getting harder and harder. I will continue to update with new developments regarding Carly’s journey to find a cure and get her health and life back! We hope and pray everyday. Thank you so much!
