Lonny's Road to Recovery

On the morning of March 15, 2017, 57-year old Lonny Gordon’s life was forever changed. Lonny is a great husband, father of three amazing sons and has a successful business called East Coast Muscle Cars. He is a friend to many, the kind of friend you can always count on.
Life was good until that fateful day when he suffered a massive stroke. Doctors performed emergency brain surgery and removed a blood clot. While we knew it was a long road ahead, we counted our blessings that he survived and was ready for rehab to regain movement on his left side. His oldest son had the idea to get matching sneakers for the family so they could, together, help their dad learn to walk again. He said, “Dad, these are your Road to Recovery sneakers!”
Lonny was making great progress, but unfortunately, a series of setbacks were to follow. He had a serious brain infection which was followed by several allergic reactions to most of the drugs needed to help him heal which led to a second brain surgery, leaving him in much worse shape. He was in and out of ICU at the hospital and rehab multiple times. These were long days and even the neurosurgeons and infectious disease doctors are calling him a walking miracle!
Five long months later, Lonny finally got his dream which was to come home to his family. While the outpouring of prayers, love and support from family, friends and neighbors has been truly humbling and amazing, his ongoing medical expenses are accumulating in the millions and even with insurance coverage there is great financial burden on the family.
Lonny currently needs a full time caregiver while his wife works, which is at the family’s personal expense. He has run out of physical therapy sessions covered by insurance and will need long term therapy to continue his progress.
Lonny is a fighter! He is determined to walk again! We are asking that you pray for him and to please donate whatever you can to support his Road to Recovery. We want to wear those sneakers out!
