Lets save Shirley's life

As many of you may already know, Shirley Gomez Aviles is considered to be a Lupus SLE survior. She was first diagnosed back in 1996. As part of her treatment, she was required to have a stem cell transplant in 2006 in order to save her kidneys. Unfortunately, her health has hit another tragic downfall. After all these years, her immune system has become defenseless and is slowly starting to shut down. In order to fight back, she is going to need to undergo IVIG Hizentra treatment. As a result, she will need to get this treatment done four times a week for a whole year. The cost of each treatment is $1,500 , which would equal a grand total of $288,000 for just 1 year of treatment. With all that said, she was depending on insurance for coverage but her insurance company has completely denied the treatment. She reached out to the company that administers the treatments and they denied to help in any way. Her last option was to apply for medicaid but after much effort, she was denied as well. At this point, she is reaching out to her beloved friends, family and our community for help because she cannot afford the treatment all on her own. Her ultimate goal is to hopefully raise enough for at least the first six months of her treatment which would be $144,000. At this moment, she is experiencing high blood pressure and it is affeccting her kidney's and it could lead to kidney failure which could lead to a stroke in the near future. It's heartbreaking to have to see such a great person go through health conditions that are uncontrollable.  She's been fighting all these years and we know that she's got one last fight left in her. Therefore, we are asking for donations from anyone that is willing to help towards this devastating cause. Any donation is greatly appreciated as she could use all the help she can get. Como muchos de ustedes ya pueden saber, Shirley Gomez Aviles se considera un Lupus SLE sobreviviente. Ella fue diagnosticada por primera vez en 1996. Como parte de su tratamiento, se le requirió tener un trasplante de células madre en 2006 con el fin de salvar sus riñones. Desafortunadamente, su salud ha golpeado otra caída trágica. Después de todos estos años, su sistema inmunológico se ha vuelto indefenso y lentamente está empezando a cerrarse. Para luchar, ella va a necesitar someterse a tratamiento IVIG Hizentra. Como resultado, tendrá que hacer este tratamiento cuatro veces a la semana durante un año entero. El costo de cada tratamiento es de $ 1,500 por cada injeccion, lo que equivale a un total de

$288,000 por solo 1 año de tratamiento. Con todo lo dicho, ella estaba dependiendo de la cobertura de su seguro de salud, pero su compañía de seguros ha negado completamente el tratamiento. Ella solicito ayuda  a la empresa que administra  fabrica los tratamientos y negaron a ayudarle con el tratamiento. Su última opción era solicitar  ayuda a Medicaid, pero después de mucho esfuerzo, se le negó también. En este punto, ella está pidiendo ayuda a sus queridos amigos ,familires y a la comunidad en general para la ayuda porque ella no puede obtener el tratamiento por sus propios medios. Su objetivo final es recaudar con suerte lo suficiente por lo menos durante los primeros seis meses de su tratamiento, que sería de 144.000 dólares. En este momento, ella está experimentando presión arterial alta y está afectando sus riñones y podría conducir a insuficiencia renal que podría dar lugar a un derrame cerebral en el futuro cercano. Es desgarrador tener que ver a una persona tan especial y amigable pasar por condiciones de salud que son incontrolables. Ella a estado luchando todos estos años y a luchado mucho poe sobrevivir y sabemos que tiene una última pelea en ella. Por lo tanto, estamos pidiendo donaciones de cualquier persona que esté dispuesta a ayudar a esta devastadora causa.
