Transit is a Right - let's do the Right thing!

Join the call for a rural, inter-community bus network that reaches across British Columbia. Transit is a Right - not just for those of us who live in large urban centres - but for all. There is a provincial election coming this fall and we need to ensure our elected officials make equitable transit a priority. Only a publicly owned and operated system can guarantee that safe, reliable, affordable and accessible buses will link to rural and remote BC communities.

The current patchwork of mostly private for-profit bus companies simply doesn't work. BC Transit serves 130 communities: it should serve all of BC. Half the province's population lives outside Greater Vancouver, but doesn't get half the public transit services.

We need an affordable, reliable public bus system to access medical appointments, jobs, schools, family visits, food shopping, and more. The network should be integrated with other modes of sustainable transit like BC Ferries and intra-provincial rail. The climate crisis demands that we change the way we travel. A responsible public bus network means fewer cars, cleaner air, and the latest sustainable technology to help us reduce our carbon footprint.

Our supporters include seniors, students, people in remote and rural areas, indigenous communities, climate change activists, health care workers and more.
