lets rally for Josue not Lymphoma

Donation protected

I am creating this GoFundMe page for a co-worker of my husband Stephen. She is a full time employee and extremely hard worker in Newburgh N.Y.  Unfortunately after hearing of her heartbreaking news I knew I needed to find a way to help out before they lose their place of living, and not be able to be by their son's bedside. Here is their story:

In March of this year, Karen's 16 year old son, Josue had what was thought to be a cold. He was treated at his medical doctor in Newburgh, N.Y.  About a week later he returned for a recheck for a constant cough and cold symptoms that seemed relentless. Upon the doctor checking him over, they discovered that he had some lumps up around his shoulder and neck area. On March 31, 2018 at Westchester's Maria Fareri children's hospital a Cytogram and CT C/A/P had findings most consistent with Lymphoma with large mediastinal nodal conglomerate. Biopsies of the lymph nodes were taken.  Supraclavicular upper abdominal and right pelvic Lymphadenopathy was found.
On April 2, 2018 Josue underwent an echocardiogram and EKG .
On April 3, 2018 Josue underwent more surgeries and the results showed extensive adenopathy involving the cervical chain lymph nodes, right axiallary lymph nodes, the mediastinal lymph nodes, retroperitoneal lymph nodes, and a right iliac chain lymph node. The findings were concerning for lymphomatous involvement of the spleen.  These four days were like a dark cloud covering over Karen, her husband Freddy and younger son Yandry. This news of their young teenage boy having cancer was heartbreaking and unbearable. This was only their beginning. Karen missed two days of work as she was commuting back and forth from Newburgh to Westchester  multiple times daily. Josue was discharged but only for a few days before being admitted again for pain and more testing and Chemotherapy treatments.  He was admitted to the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Service for abdomen pain and leg pain.
On April 10, 2018 another mass was found on the head and neck. Infusions started and were supposed to start with Josue being discharged and home infusions, but unfortunately that was not the case. He was readmitted again on April 26,2018 for pain and swelling. He was started on Gabaentin for Neuropathic pain and Zyrtec for bone pain due to GCSF. He was also oven IV Tylenol and Morphine for pain. This has put a financial burden on our neighboring Newburgh family as Karen and Freddy have had to miss the past three weeks of work without pay. Josue is still located in Westchester's Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and being treated with Chemotherapy. I am asking if you could please help by making a donation to help with gas expenses for them to continue to commute back and forth to be by their son's side while taking care of their younger child at home. This money will also help ease their burden of bills and rent at home. Unable to work and unable to pay bills is another stress that this family does not need at this time as their son is fighting cancer. Please keep the Gutierrez family in your thoughts and prayers. If you are unable to help financially please share and pass this info on to all of our neighbors.
