Let’s Pay Nana’s Medical Bills!

#TheNana Update--

It’s with a very heavy heart that I make this post. In the early hours of this morning, Martha Lee Crandell, The Nana, passed away in her sleep. For some of you she was the grandmother you no longer had and to others a sweet, little Nana that would go on adventures with me on Facebook, but regardless of who she was to you she touched and impacted your life.

My heart hurts so much because not only did I lose my Nana, but someone that despite how my day was going could bring me so much joy. I loved the time we spent together and we both loved sharing those times with the world. Though the last month has been the hardest time for her and her health swiftly eroded away, I still have all these great memories of her and all the love and care everyone gave to her on them.

I want to thank my best friend Kevin for a conversation we had almost two years ago about not having more videos of a loved one. I don’t believe The Adventures of The Nana and Nate would have come to light if not for that faithful day at his office. The next time you all see Kevin, please thank him too.

Again I don’t know what happens to us once we pass away, I hope her belief in an afterlife comes true for The Nana so she can be reunited with her beloved husband William Crandell. I’m sure in an afterlife she’ll continue to look down upon me and all I want is to be a great legacy for her as a grandson.

Hey guys— If you are like me and have enjoyed #TheNana and her adventures with Nate on Facebook, then you should know that she needs our help.

If you didn’t know, #TheNana used to live with her grandson Nate. Nate took care of her for several years and is her sole caretaker. He is the only family member in the picture so she relies on him 100%.

Nate is a realtor for Compass West Realty, Vice President of the Winchester Royals Baseball team, and general cheerleader for pretty much every small business around Winchester and beyond so he’s a pretty busy guy.

Once Nana had a few falls and started needing additional care, Nate was able to find placement for her at Heritage Hall  healthcare and rehabilitation center in Front Royal.

Even though Nana now lives at Heritage Hall full-time, Nate visits her often and continues to pay for all of her expenses. This is a lot for a single man in his 30s to bear, but never once have I heard him complain. (Sorry I mentioned that you’re single Nate... just trying to get you some dates here)

Nana had been enjoying life at Heritage Hall but unfortunately on her birthday a few weeks ago, Nana had a bad fall, and has been in and out of the hospital.

Currently, she is in the ICU at Warren Memorial Hospital with a urinary tract infection and she is not doing well.

The bills for her treatment and room and board are adding up ( even though she is in the hospital, Heritage Hall charges $250 for every day she is not there to hold her room).

So here’s where we can come in. I would love to be able to write Nana a check for $25,000 and I bet a lot of you would like to do the same.

I can’t write a check that big but I can give $100 and I’m asking you to do the same (or any amount you can afford). Nate has almost 1000 friends on Facebook... if they all gave $100 we’d almost have $10,000 easily.

Nate spends the little free time he has frequenting small businesses and restaurants and shares their posts often. Maybe he’s even given your business some free advertising! Maybe this is your chance to thank him.

I know I owe him because when he was helping me get ready to sell my house,  my jerk dog Chewy ran out of the house and without hesitation, Nate held my baby for me as I ran out the door to grab my dog like a crazy person.

He also told me the true meaning of “Netflix and Chill”  after I told him that he should go home and Netflix and chill with Nana.

I bet Nate has helped you with something too...and maybe now is your time to pay it forward.

Everyone seems to have a go fund me these days, but if nothing else, think of your donation as payment for being able to view all of Nana and Nate’s silly videos...(remember Blockbuster Video? Something like that except you don’t have to be kind and rewind).

Let’s use this opportunity to pay it forward to Nana and inspire others to do the same.  So when you make your donation add a comment saying what you like to think Nate or Nana for...I bet there’s something!
