Let's Help the Cooneys

Hey everyone,
By now you've probably heard that our good friend, Patrick Cooney, is in the hospital fighting for his life after emergency brain surgery caused by a fall. While things are looking up and Pat is showing signs of progress, recovery from such a major surgery is a series of baby steps and there is still a very long road ahead.
While our hearts and prayers are with Pat and his family, as we all know, a major medical emergency doesn't come without strings attached. In addition to the emotional toll that the Cooneys are dealing with, they are doing everything possible to stay close to Pat by traveling down from Binghamton, missing work, spending money on hotels and food and possibly even losing money on vacation arrangements they will now not be able to make. As such, they have taken on an enormous new slate of unexpected expenses with Pat in the hospital. Worse yet, it is unknown whether Pat will be able to start teaching in the fall, so there's a very real chance he may lose his health coverage and may be without assistance during a pivotal part of his recovery. This is in addition to all of Pat's normal expenses like rent and utilities that will need to be covered as he bounces back. Simply put, we are grateful that Pat has made such strides, but the entire Cooney family will need our help in the months ahead.
I know we are all itching to help out the Cooneys in any way we can, which is especially hard if you're halfway across the country or unable to visit. The Cooneys haven't once asked for help and honestly probably never would, which is why I think it would be so meaningful if we could do our part to ease their burden and help them be in the strongest position for Pat's recovery.
We all know that Pat is one of the most unique, caring individuals we've all been blessed to meet, and his family is living proof of that. Please do your part to help support Pat and his family when they need us most and feel free to share this campaign with those who may be able to help.
