<div>Lifetime Islander Shirley Burton is known to many for her pet goats, dahlia gardens, and for being seen biking all over the island to do her shopping, attend church, and visit with friends. She will be 89 years old this coming June.

<div>Fiercely independent, Shirley has lived in her humble little log cabin on her beloved Paradise Valley land for decades. Unexpectedly, in late January, her health took a turn that resulted in hospitalization and a stay in a skilled nursing facility. We've found a temporary living situation for her and are finalizing the details of a more permanent solution.

<div>Her goats are living on an island farm with other goats and animals, and are, by all accounts, very happy.

<div>Unfortunately, her cabin is no longer safe for her to return to and would require more funds than I believe could be raised. While she is mostly independent now, her future needs will likely include assisted living care.

</div>
