Polina's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Some of you already know, but Polina was in a traumatic car accident just before the holidays. Incredibly, she didn't sustain any life-threatening injuries, but unfortunately her left hand was severely injured. In surgery her team of doctors rebuilt her hand and came out of the OR with the best possible outcome, but still weren't able to save two of her fingers. She spent a night in the ICU and four days in the hospital, but she is home now to recover in relative comfort.

It's hard to hear when something like this happens to  a friend who brings so much light into our lives. Polina inspires me every day with how passionately she pursues her dreams, and I know she has many friends who feel the same. I want everyone to know that she is in high spirits, is grateful to be alive, and has been showered with support from loved ones.

She has a long road ahead, including more potential surgeries and lots of therapy to regain function in her hand, but we are confident she will be able to do everything she did before and more - she'll be back to making pies for us all eventually, don't you worry!

Many of you have reached out to ask how to help, and I think the most impactful way to do so at this moment would be to ease the financial strain of everything and help her focus on recovery.  If you can give even a few dollars, I know she would be incredibly grateful and it would be a tremendous help to her and her family.

To get specific, I am hoping to raise money to help her in the following ways:

- For hospital bills and physical therapy appointments

- To help cover living expenses and rent for the next couple of months

- To buy specialty cooking supplies she can use with one hand during recovery. One of the first things Polina said to me was that she was terrified she wouldn't be able to cook and bake after this, and I want to help her realize that's not the case!

- To help pay for a prosthetic if she should ever want or need one

Also, here are some cute pictures from the hospital that Polina may or may not hate me for posting:
