LET’S HELP LEONARD ORONA GET BETTER!

Please consider making a donation to help pay for Leonard Orona’s unexpected medical bills. Two months ago, Leonard suffered a massive stroke that required round the clock medical attention. Thankfully, he is now in rehabilitation, but will still need 24 hour care. Kelly decided that after many years of being supported by her husband, it is now Leonard’s time to be fully supported.

All donations will go towards providing Leonard with special medical equipment, consistent lab work and testing he will need for any unknown health problems, and a specialized bed that will help for full recovery. It will also help provide a caregiver to assist with his daily routine.

Leonard Orona has always been a strong advocate for children’s education and learning. He, himself, came from a single parent home in the heart of East Los Angeles and knew education was the only way to change his circumstance. With that said, Leonard went on to pursue Higher Education and became a Mechanical Engineer. This allowed he and his wife to go on and help other children who experienced a similar situation. In 1993, he became his wife’s silent partner when they opened The Bookworm, an Educational Bookstore, in Vallejo, California.

Their passion has always been to serve their community by offering educational books, supplies, tools, etc. at an affordable rate so both teachers and parents from all economic backgrounds could have the opportunity to provide a better education. In his wife, Kelly Orona’s words, “we have always believed in the saying, ‘it’s not where you’re from that matters, but where you’re going!’”

In relation to the Bookworm, Kelly describes her husband as someone who has always been supportive of her creative ideas in how to serve their community. She also described Leonard as the handyman and fixer of the store, the go-to person as a financial advisor, and her cheering squad.
