Let's Help Drew Build His Home

HELPERS NEED HELP TOO!

In a year where so many have been greatly affected by the pandemic and natural disaster, there is an overwhelming amount of causes that require attention. As you consider your donations, I appreciate your attention to a cause that is near and dear to me - I need your help to raise funds to buy building materials so that one of my teachers can build his house.

Drew Hume is an amazing teacher of anatomy and manual therapy, with a wealth of knowledge of the human body and a deep compassionate heart, as anyone who has studied with him can attest.  He is one of my most influential teachers and I recently learned that he does not have a house. Living in a tent for the past two years, and greatly due to the impact that Covid had on his business, Drew does not have the means to build a house.  But with enough support, we can help him buy the building materials and he can do the building himself and with the help of friends in the community.

Drew currently lives in Costa Rica, where he established Navina, a center for education and training of Manual Therapy. Through his educational center, he provides employment and support for members of his small community, and scholarships for those who cannot afford training, focusing on minorities.  Due to the pandemic, all in-person training came to a halt, greatly affecting his income. This year has also brought flooding to his town, where he spent several days cooking and delivering meals for the less fortunate in his area.

Will you please help me in raising funds to help him build his home? I will be so grateful to have your support.

[As a side note, while in Costa Rica, Drew became interested in bees, specifically the Barcinos, which are stingless bees who are at the brink of extinction. He learned that the native bees are struggling and are the most vulnerable, including species of bees that produce a medicinal honey that can be used to treat certain eye conditions. It is apparent that the stingless bees played a big role in food and trade in the Mayan economy, but since those times the practice of keeping and caring for stingless bees has become almost forgotten.

Drew became a researcher and rescuer for these bees, who constantly fall prey to other species, such as lemon bees, and can only be found in Central and South America. These bees have not been studied like the honey bees, who are not endangered. Drew's house plans also include shelter for bees' colonies, so they can be observed, studied and kept safe.]
