<div>I am creating this gofundme in hopes of helping my friend Connie. On July 30 2024, she had some unusual symptoms, such as fatigue, fever and bruises on her legs and arms. But one of the most noticeable symptoms was the inflammation in her gums that did not allow her to eat. For this reason she visited the dentist who told her that it was something atypical. She was referred to the general doctor to have blood tests and a biopsy of the upper part of the palate, one of the tests did not come out encouraging, telling her that she had to go to the Royal Prince Alfred Emergency Hospital as soon as possible.

<div>From that moment on, her life and thoughts changed forever because she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and had to begin chemotherapy immediately. She began chemo on the 3rd of august and as she is a student here in Australia, luckily her insurance covers some of the costs (when I enquired on her behalf, they said it only covers for 6 weeks of treatment and hospital cover) and the doctors confirmed that she will need 6-8 months of treatment. I know that her treatment to fight cancer will be a long and hard process, and I will be beside her every step of the way. Unfortunately, she is not with her family since she decided to come to Australia to strengthen her professional skills, but due to circumstances this dream will vanish.

<div>Constanza Guerra Parada, is a Chilean national, 31 years old, and has been living in Australia since March 2023 on a student visa with work restrictions of 24 hours a week, as you know, life for an immigrant is very hard and because of this disease that will prevent her from returning to her daily life, I find myself in need of asking for your support since she is running out of savings to cover basic expenses, future medical expenses, and hopefully a chance to help get her mother or someone from her family over here to help and be with her because currently she is all alone. (Have been to the Chilean embassy enquiring how we can do this immediately given the circumstances).
