Right now mom (Julie Reynolds) has a beat-up two-decade-old car and everything's wrong with it. It used to smoke but now the oil leaks out too fast for it to do that. The transmission and brakes are wearing out and the AC doesn't work. The radio stopped working years ago.
I want her to get something that costs a little more than she could afford on her own.
