<div>Hi, I am Luis, a VFX Artist. This has been full of unexpected challenges starting in May with the Writers and Actors strike which left me, like many others, without a job. And due to the strike lasting for several months and the industry still not recovering and restarting, I find myself still without employment. Adding to this in November I faced a health emergency that has impeded my ability to obtain any temporary job to sustain myself until the industry comes back up, this emergency kept me bedridden and in constant pain. With the Canadian health system so oversaturated, no matter how many times I went to the hospital, to the emergency room, being there for over 12 hours for a 5-minute checkup that yielded no answer, even searching for other doctors or clinics, no resolution was achieved to my health that kept degrading every day, which caused a wave of stress and anxiety forcing me to live in chaos and without peace even fearing that this would complicate and endanger my life.

<div>My only choice was to fly to Mexico to get this surgery done, but this implied unexpected expenses in between the surgery itself, flights, and a place to stay. With the aforementioned unemployment, I cannot cover these expenses, especially with my savings totally drained, even with my family’s loving support I simply cannot cover these costs. It is because of this that I decided to create this fund so I could cover these expenses.

<div>Hola, soy Luis, y soy un Artista de Efectos Visuales. Este año me he enfentrado a varios desafios como la huelga de escritores y actores que en Mayo me dejó como a muchos, sin empleo. Y debido a que esta huelga duró varios meses, la industria aún no ha reiniciado actividades como para encontrar un nuevo empleo. Sumado a esto, en Noviembre me enfrente a una emergencia de salud que me ha impedido obtener algún trabajo de temporal para solventar mis gastos ya que esta emergencia me mantiene en cama y en constante dolor, y debido a lo saturado que esta el sistema de salud en Canadá, sin importar cuantas veces fui al hospital, yendo a sala de emergencias, estando más de 12 horas esperando en el hospital para una revisión de 5 minutos donde no me daban una solución, buscando con muchos doctores y distintas clínicas, no recibía solución para mi salud que cada día se deterioraba más, esto sólo me causaba mucho más estrés y ansiedad y vivía en absoluto chaos sin paz y temiendo que esto se complicara y mi vida estuviera en juego.

<div>Mi única opción fue viajar a México a que me realizaran la cirugía lo cual implico un gasto inesperado incluidos los gastos médicos, vuelos y estancia. Por el mismo desempleo no cuento con la solvencia para cubrir los gastos ya que drenó mis ahorros, incluso con el apoyo de mi familia no se alcanzan a cubrir. Es por esto que estoy creando este fondo para poder cubrir la mayoría de los gastos.
