Let's get him running! Angel Rivera

I want to introduce you to Juan "Angel" Rivera. He is an 11th grader at Santa Ana High School. Angel is a smart young man with dreams of college and studying criminal law. He is kind, giving and is a class leader. Angel is also a quad-amputee. At age 3, Angel contracted Meningococcemia Meningitis, the most common form of bacterial meningitis in children and teens, and had to have all four limbs amputated. As a quadamputee, Angel has always maintained a positive outlook on life and considers himself blessed. He goes out of his way to help others and tutors elementary school children in the neighborhood resource tutoring center. One of Angels dreams is to run just like everyone else.
Did you know that insurance companies only fund functional prosthetics and will not assist in adapted sports equipment? Angel would like to receive running blades and an application to the Challeneged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is working to give him a grant for two running blades at a cost of $15,000 each. But CAF will not be able to fund the things that he needs to go with the running blades. This is where you come in! We are trying to raise $20,000 for new molds for the prosthetics. He will also need to be fitted for liners and sleeves for the prosthetics. The liner are for helping the stumps from getting sores and sleeves are for helping to fit to the prothetic. He will probably be fitted with or without a knee joint. The better handware come with articulating knee via a computer to help assist in the gate.
We are hoping that you can donate from your heart and get 20 friends to donate at least $20.00. With love all around, I'm sure we will meet the goal of $20,000. for Angel to get his running blades from Challenged Athletes Foundation.
