Let's get Danny some Wheels!!

Hello, my name is Robin Wiegand. My daughter Rian and I decided to start a gofundme page for our friend Danny Fortin. Danny works full time at our local Home Depot in Country Hills, Calgary. I have been purchasing construction supplies at this location for years and when Rian was around 3 years old she would regularly join me. She would help with loading materials and look cute to get me better service :) You know, typical 3 year old stuff. Now closing in on 8 years old, Rian has developed a close friendship with Danny.
Danny, who is now 67 years old, was involved in a workplace accident over 20 years ago when scaffolding on a construction site collasped. After multiple surgeries and ongoing hospital care, Danny now relies on the use of a motorized wheelchair as his primary mode of transportation. Danny suffered numerous injuries from his fall, but most notably was the amputation of one of his legs and a knee replacement to his other. He can walk without his chair but only for a short duration and short distances.
On Halloween night, his wheelchair was stolen from his truck. Not just his wheelchair, but also his ability to shop for groceries, go to the mall, visit with family, and maybe most importantly, get around work in order to support his family. The situation has resulted in an overwhelming amount of stress and sleepless nights wondering how to replace such an expensive item.
It seems as though many of us find giving easy. I myself feel like receiving is the difficult part. Danny is this way. Always the first in line to give, but last to raise his hand up to receive. After hearing what happened to Danny, Rian and I left Home Depot much the same as every other time. But this time, Rian looked pretty upset. She said, "Dad we need to help Danny". Funny timing, I have been looking for a reason to step outside of my comfort zone and do more things that make a difference......namely on social media which is freaky for us private people! So here we are.
The Calgary Police has not been able to provide any updates at this time but said usually stolen items such as these are gone fast. Up North or out of province already. Danny's family has reached out to some local news stations but have not heard back.
To me, Danny is a good person. He works hard, he works honest, and he doesn't complain or use his injuries as an excuse. Theft and stealing one's belongings is never acceptable, however, stealing items that directly impact one's livelihood is a whole different level.
Danny's compensation wheelchair will cost $12,477.70 to replace. Every dollar donated will be one less dollar that Danny and his family need to come up with. Maybe through all of our efforts we will reach our goal or maybe we only raise a portion of the total. Either way, any donations received will result in a big success!
