One of the founders of ¨The Fighter Madrid¨ lost his father in the summer of 2015, and used this as inspiration to start this fundraiser. The concrete goal of ¨The Fighter Madrid¨ event is to raise at least €3,000 to help ¨Lads Need Dads¨ hire a male counselor for the young boys.
¨Lads Need Dads¨ (https://ladsneeddads.org/) is a charity founded by Sonia Shaljean. Founded in June 2015 and based in Essex, England. Lads Need Dads was set up to prevent potential problems and address existing ones where boys are missing a father-figure in their lives.
They provide:
- A male-led group Mentoring Programme
- Bush-craft survival training and outdoor activities
- Practical lifeskill training
- Access to inspirational male speakers
- Community Volunteering opportunities
- Leadership and Peer mentoring opportunities
- Ongoing open-ended support
- Family support service
- Lads Need Dads is currently one of the only projects in the UK that works proactively to address the impact of the absent father on boys aged 11-15 and whose approach is both early intervention and long-term.
