Let's do something nice for Peter!

Hey everybody,

If you're reading this, you probably know our mutual friend Peter Schreiner and have already heard about the car accident he was in on Labor Day weekend. In case this message finds you unawares, since the accident, Peter has been paralyzed from the chest down due to spinal damage and has endured a number of breathing complications, including collapsed lungs and being on a ventilator for two weeks.

Now, a month after the accident, Peter has had spinal surgery, is breathing on his own, and is leaving the ICU for inpatient physical therapy at Mt. Sinai soon. His mental fortitude and resiliance during this time have been nothing short of inspiring. I am extremely proud of my friend and I think he deserves something nice after the month he's had - I am hoping you all will help me to that end.

What you may or may not know about Peter, is that he has pursued an interest in electronic music production in recent years. A hobby that I enjoy alongside him; I have watched him go from someone with zero musical experience to creating some really cool productions that don't sound far off from the artists who inspire him, such as Bonobo and Tycho. Up to this point, almost all of this has taken place on a computer with virtual synths and a couple of controllers. SO, this is the idea - I want to get him a really nice analog (or digital analog) synthesizer. As he begins the rehab process, I imagine that having an awesome new toy and this creative outlet will give him something to look forward to and get lost in afterlong, effortful days of physical therapy.

Pete has largely foregone the analog realm up to this point because it quickly gets expensive. That's where we come in! I've done some research and played around with some of these things, and have arrived at some options that I think suit his sound. Depending on how much we get together, I'm looking at these:
$500, Korg Minilogue https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Minilogue
$1,000, Behringer DeepMind12
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DeepMind1
$1,500, Roland System-8
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/System8
$2,000, Dave Smith Prophet Rev2
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/REV2-16

... I think that's a good list to start. If we manage to get even more than that we can get him a Access Virus TI or a Moog Voyager or something in addition to the earlier options.

Anything you can spare is appreciated, even just $5, I know he'll really enjoy any of these options - they're all very cool machines. He should be starting PT sometime next week so hopefully we can be done raising funds by October 14th. Thank you so much for your help!
