Let's build a skatepark for Emerald!

Donation protected

Help us get a "pop up" skatepark for our Emerald kids!

Our kids are suffering from COVID lockdowns and are unable to travel over 5kms to get to a skatepark. Our permanent skatepark is YEARS away and we need one now.

Our kids are making ad hoc ramps all over Emerald, and we want to keep them safe and to give them a space they can enjoy. The old netball courts at Worrell Reserve are sitting empty and would be a perfect space.

  • For the mental health and well being of our local kids (no skatepark within 5kms, and kids making ad hoc skate ramps all over the place, and kids don't drive!)
  • A great substitute while we the community work in conjuntion with council to plan and develop our planned skatepark at Worrell Reserve.
  • Quick and cost effective (installation eta early 2022)
  • Can be reused or relocated
  • Gives the community a chance to "cool off" about a very hot topic, while we research funding and locations of permanent structures to make this future dream great.
  • Community led project

The money will be used to buy a series of steel roll over skate ramps, and fix up the space at the old netball courts- with Cardinia Council's inspection and approval. These are custom made and designed for councils, and are noise reductive, and are installed in a fixed location. They can be reused and relocated (by the installation manufacturer). The units are weatherproof and will function for years if needed. Businesses who contribute please make contact with us to discuss a proper advertising strategy.

Our community needs your support, and our kids and adults alike will benefit from the installation of the units and the activation of the old netball space.

Let's do this Emerald!

A word from EVER- Emerald Village Exercise & Recreation:

"EVER has the support of our local community organisation, the Emerald Village Association. This project will be undertaken with councils permission, guidance and approval. Any funds above and beyond the cost of the "pop up" skatepark will be used for maintenence of this
space, and Emerald 's exercise and recreation spaces. Thank you endlessly. "

The fine print:

The money donated to the Go Fund Me page will go towards the purchase of the steel "roll over" ramps and the development of the old netball court space (gardening, painting etc) should we have more than we need for the ramps (estimated at $25,000).

I deliberately chose the Go Fund Me platform so that once the money is donated I can give it back if I need to. If we don't get council
approval for the space then all funds will be returned should we not find a suitable option, and even in that case I will email and report
to
every donor to ensure their donation is used in a way they are happy with, or it will be returned.

I'm conscious of the Celeste Barber case where she had set up a donation page on Facebook specifically for one charity, and was then
unable to return funds when her fan base was unclear about who the funds went to.

The money in a Go Fund Me must go to an individual rather than an organisation for this reason, that individual is me, Vanessa Kewish.
