Help us saving Colombian stray cats!
‘’Por Amor a Rocky’’ is an animal-focused foundation located in Bogota Colombia, that helps abandoned, mistreated, and homeless cats and dogs, healing them, if that is the case, and looking for a proper home for them as well.
Today, we have decided to help another Colombian city, Santa Marta. In this region of the country, animals are not well treated nor castrated, besides the local government does not fund any public or private animal support organizations, who work on improving stray cats and dogs’ wellbeing. This particular situation has originated a severe public health problem in this city, hundreds and hundreds of stray cats and dogs starving to death on a daily basis.
So now, a bunch of foundations has made a risky choice, bring them to Bogota on a 958 km (596 miles) road trip, as we have done it a couple of times now, to physically and emotionally recover them, and then to do our best to find a family for the rest of their lives.
Unfortunately, a total of 278 cats were confiscated on their way to Bogota due to the health and transportation conditions in which they were traveling. We, as ‘Por Amor a Rocky’, decided to take full responsibility on these cats’ lives, because they were being brutally mistreated back at Santa Marta, had no medical attention, and were living in awful conditions, something we cannot live with for sure. ‘Por Amor a Rocky’ traveled more than 410 km (254 miles) where all the cats were taken by the authorities in order to take full custody of them. After 3 days of legal agreements with government entities, complainants, and 10 different Veterinaries, we were given their legal custody.
Now our non-profit organization is responsible for these lives and their well-being. Right now, we need to cover almost 50 hospitalization costs, food, cat litter, medicines, treatments, and all of the things these 278 cats may need. We just want to provide them a happy and healthy life, we are not being supported by the government or any other private entity and the expenses keep growing!!
We really ask for some help to save these kittens’ lives!!
