Let's replace Rod's camera gear!

Donation protected
Rod is abroad in New Zealand and the camera gear he uses for his passion, EveryDayMusic, has been stolen.  He has lost $6K worth of equipment. Let's see if we can get him half way, or even all the way there !  I bet we can! ❤️ $5, $10, $20 anything is appreciated and it all adds up!

"I lost the camera I shot EveryDayMusic on last night while attending an indie music release at a local music venue in Christchurch, NZ. The EveryDayMusic project was my response to a bleak outlook on life after decades of chronic pain + clinical depression & IT CHANGED MY LIFE.

I came to New Zealand to find (& film) musicians that would share a song & discuss the healing power of music & it's importance in their community but this effectively ends that pursuit.

The good news is... That before EveryDayMusic, something like this would've literally destroyed me but I have been mentally & physically healed since I undertook this momentous project. I credit the people I've met & the music + moments they've shared with me for that!

So even though I can't fight back the tears as I write this & prepare to visit local pawn shops instead of the artists I was scheduled to see today & my plans for the rest of this trip have been dashed...

I'm good. The remaining days of my trip will be a time of quiet reflection of the gifts I've received while on this path & how I can share them + editing "Food for the Soul", the found footage mashup movie I'm making for the second part of EveryDayMusic (& have been completely distracted from by an incredibly hectic life)!

I was essentially shooting video for a mini-doc/promo to raise funds & awareness for the third and final part of my EveryDayMusic journey, where I intend to travel the world for 1000 days & collect another 1000 songs + stories about how/why music is one of our best medicines.

Moments like these tend to stop you dead in your tracks but the truth is... What  I have seen/heard here is almost exactly the same as what I discovered in Vancouver. Everywhere I go I hear the same songs in the background & local music is rare. Artists playing in bars or clubs play cover songs because that's what people want to hear. Most people will spend $100's to see artists on the radio but are hard pressed to spend $10 to see a local band. The Govt & music industry are investing in what they think will 'sell' ie: the same sound we hear everywhere. I also see here that the people who do still write & play music find it is  the thing that helps them most when they struggle with life's most difficult challenges.

So it remains my goal to continue to investigate why we continue to obsessively sink all of our money into the brands & habits we love to hate while the keepers of our best medicines (live&local
food&music) struggle to survive & share their gifts."

Let's see if we can make this right and keep this dream alive! ❤️ The world needs music and art so much, and dammit this just isn't fair.
